Description
Shea honey comes from the Atacora region, in north-western Benin. In these savannas, bees forage on the flowers of the shea tree during its blossoming, from March to June. The honey is harvested by local beekeepers and jarred as it is: never heated, never pasteurised, with nothing added.
This is the honey that won the Platinum medal at the London International Honey Awards 2026, awarded after a blind tasting by an international jury.
What you will taste
A deep amber colour and a dense, creamy texture that coats the spoon. On the palate, the honey is sweet at first, then reveals woody, lightly spiced notes with a long finish. A honey of character, for those who prefer deep flavours to simple sweetness.
How to enjoy it
Pure, by the spoonful, to appreciate it fully. With a mature cheese such as Comté or Fourme d’Ambert, or with foie gras. As a finishing touch in a stew, a sauce or a marinade. Or stirred into a warm infusion, below 40 °C to keep all its aromas.
